Editor's Note: In the Fall of 2002, Ben studied as an exchange student in Boston.
He stayed with his boyhood friend, Michael Kelly and other roommates who, like Michael,
were students at Boston College. One of the other roommates was David Faleris. David
graduated in 2004, the year after Ben's death. He went on to do postgraduate work at
the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and it was there in 2005 that this performance
of his instrumental piece was recorded. The text below is an excerpt from the "Program
Notes" found at the beginning of the musical score and, like the recording itself, is made
available with David's permission, for which we thank him.
