From Woodlawn High School's 2000 Yearbook...
 The squad followed up the winningest season since 1996 by sending four team members to post-season tournament competition.... Petty, playing in his third County Tournament, carded three birdies on his way to finish near the top of the leader board, thereby earning a trip to the Regional championship. Without sufficient warm-up time but aided by a large supporting gallery of Woodlawn students, Petty played solidly at Regionals and earned an "All County" ranking and a spot in the Senior All-Star Tournament. In what Coach Young called "one of the best rounds under pressure I've seen in my life," Petty posted a third-place score at the All-Star Tourney, contested among only the best graduating seniors in the entire county....Petty [was] a four-year starter, three-time captain, and MVP....
